A Little Update from Pixel Pop Newquay: Our Prices Are Changing
First of all, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Pixel Pop Newquay. Whether you’ve visited us for a family day out, brought the kids along for a gaming session, celebrated a birthday with us or challenged your friends on our interactive pixel floors, your support means a great deal to us.
As a small, independent local business, we’ve always tried to keep our prices as affordable as possible, giving families somewhere fun and different to spend time together.
However, from 14/10/26, our standard session price will increase from £12 to £14 per person. We wanted to explain why we’ve had to make this change.
Growing into a bigger space
One of the biggest changes for Pixel Pop has been our expansion into a larger premises. Moving into a bigger building has allowed us to offer more space and an even better experience for our visitors.
But, as you can imagine, a bigger venue comes with bigger bills.
Rent, business rates, electricity, cleaning and general maintenance all add up. Keeping a larger space comfortable, clean, safe and ready for our customers costs considerably more than running a smaller venue.
We’re proud of what we’ve built and the opportunities the expanded venue gives us, but we also have to make sure the business remains sustainable for the long term.
The rising cost of running a business
Unfortunately, it isn’t just the cost of our premises that has increased. Like many small businesses across the UK, we’re facing higher operating costs in several areas, including:
Business rates: The cost of occupying commercial premises is an important part of our overheads.
Energy bills: Our venue relies on electricity to power our interactive LED pixel floors, gaming equipment, lighting and other facilities.
Equipment and maintenance: Our games and technology need regular upkeep, repairs and occasional replacements to keep everything working as it should.
Cleaning and supplies: Keeping the venue clean, welcoming and ready for every visitor comes with ongoing costs.
Insurance, software and other business expenses: These are essential to operating a business and providing the experience our customers expect.
Individually, these expenses might not seem like much, but together they make a significant difference to the cost of running Pixel Pop. We have to take these increases into account if we want to continue providing the same experience and keep investing in the venue.
Why £14?
We haven’t taken the decision lightly. We know that family budgets are under pressure, and we understand that even a small increase can make a difference.
Moving from £12 to £14 is an increase of £2 per person, or around 17%. We’ve tried to keep the adjustment as modest as possible while helping to cover the additional costs of running our larger venue.
Our aim isn’t simply to increase prices. It’s to make sure Pixel Pop can continue to offer a fun, welcoming place where friends and families can compete, laugh, challenge themselves and make memories together.
We want to keep improving what we offer, maintaining our equipment and giving you a reason to come back again and again.
Thank you for supporting a local business
Every visit, birthday booking, recommendation and kind word helps us keep Pixel Pop going. As an independent business here in Newquay, we genuinely appreciate the support of our local community.
We understand that not everyone will welcome a price increase, and we completely respect that. We just wanted to be open about the reasons behind it rather than make a change without an explanation.
Thank you for being part of Pixel Pop's journey so far. We look forward to welcoming you back for more challenges, friendly competition and plenty of fun!
Martyn
